Another free subscription: Women’s Day

Seems that Women’s Day has been popular lately among those sites offering free subscriptions. This one is from RewardsGold.com, a site I have previously used. Usually, to get their magazines, you only have to write a simple review. I have gotten their magazines successfully, and they occasionally send me emails for more free subscription offers. Like to read? Readers’ panel opening

I am a reader. As someone trying to live a frugal lifestyle, I am also always on the lookout for free books. Previously, I joined a reader panel called We Hear You. The opinion panel (run by Harlequin) offers free books and no pressure to buy anything in exchange for your honest opinions about the characters, covers, and plotlines.

They recently emailed me with news that they are looking for female readers ages 18-24. Those who participate will get three free books and will fill out an online survey concerning their opinions of the books. The survey can be found here, but it is not clear whether everyone will qualify for panel membership.

Let me know if anyone successfully signs up for this.

Free sewing patterns

One of my favorite hobbies is sewing. I love to sew, even though I rarely find time to, and I’m not very experienced. Nonetheless, I stash fabric and patterns in anticipation of that rare day when I can indulge! While it’s not hard to find fabric store coupons and pattern sales, it’s always nice to find a quality crafty freebie.

One of the best craft sites (IMO) is Burdastyle. It’s a sewing community that allows you to post and share your creations as well as author how-tos. It’s also a free pattern source! The clothes that people make from the patterns are displayed on the pattern’s page, so you can see everyone else’s take on the pattern. Overall, the site offers wonderful inspiration AND instructions!

New shopping program: Good Housekeeping Rewards

In my July issue of Good Housekeeping, there’s a page introducing their new shopping rewards program, Good Housekeeping Rewards. While I encourage you to check out their site, I’ve included a program summary in this post.

Shop at specific online retailers (currently including Target, Macy’s, Banana Republic, and others) through the GH Rewards website and you can earn up to 20% back each time. The small catch: you have to wait until you’ve accumulated $20 in rewards before you can request your rewards, but you can get your rewards by check or by a prepaid, GH branded MasterCard. Although you have to remember to shop through GH’s Rewards website, their site offers many coupons and deals that you can use to further save money.

Finally, you must be a Good Housekeeping subscriber to participate. (Non-subscribers can participate, but only through a 90-day trial.) However, if you’ve been reading my blog, you know that that doesn’t mean you have to spend any money to subscribe! AdPerk is still offering Good Housekeeping for free, just for watching some online commercials.

What do you, the readers, think of this? Does it compare to other shopping rewards programs you are familiar with?

Travel-sized freebies: Clinique and a pillow

Today I took my own advice and went to one of the Clinique workshops I recently blogged about. The workshop at my local Dillard’s was Summer Coolers. The consultant was efficient and pleasant.  She first asked me what I was interested in as far as beauty products.  As she put makeup on me, she checked with me before adding more to make sure I wanted mascara, shadow, etc., so as not to put on too much.  Overall, I learned about a couple of new products, got some moisturizer I needed (using a gift card), and got my two travel-sized freebies, pictured above.

Next, I headed down to the Sleep Number Bed store. We’d gotten a mall advertisement in the mail, complete with a giveaway entry form and coupons, trying to entice me to shop. One coupon promised a free gift, so off I went. It turned out to be a free Sleep Number brand travel-sized pillow. Useful and soft–not bad for free!

Johnson’s Coupons on AdPerk

Recently I told you about two new magazine subscriptions from AdPerk, courtesy of Johnson’s. The ads are all sponsored by Johnson’s, advertising shampoo, lotion and the Bedtime products. While I was on the site, I discovered some coupons! There three coupons:

  • $1 off Johson’s Shampoo
  • $1 off Johnson’s Baby Wash or Baby Lotion
  • $2 off Johnson’s Bedtime Sweet Sleep set, Dream set, or two Bedtime Bath, or two Bedtime Lotion

To get your own coupons, go to AdPerk and click on either of the Johnson’s-sponsored magazines (Redbook or Parenting). When you are on the magazine’s video selection page, click a video. On the video page, along the right side, there are sponsored links to baby information and coupons! The coupon that shows up will correspond to the type of commercial you watch.

Enjoy your coupons!
